Teacher | Coach | Community Builder

A passionate teacher, I maintain a private studio in which I offer piano instruction and vocal coaching to students of all ages and abilities. Whether pursuing a professional career or rekindling a childhood love of music, I tailor each student’s curriculum to his or her musical goals. In addition to comprehensive music instruction, my studio focuses on inspiring students to think critically about music, its relationship to other art forms, and its role in historical and social development.

A music advocate and community builder, I hope to foster not only a love of music, but also a spirit of collaboration in all of my students. Group activities (group lessons/duets, recitals, Dalcroze activities, etc.) will be arranged as appropriate to encourage a sense of  fellowship and community within the studio.

Philosophy of Teaching

As a teacher, I aim to provide quality instruction in order to both foster musical ability and enhance my students’ enjoyment and appreciation of music. I strive to create an environment conducive to learning for students of all levels. Lesson curriculum is individually tailored to each student and includes age-appropriate activities to develop fundamental musical skills. Through the course of each lesson, students will be exposed to training in music theory, history, sight-reading, improvisation, and aural/oral skills. The curriculum is designed with a holistic approach in order to assist each student achieve his or her personal goals. Through my teaching, I work to promote leadership, collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking skills — all the while attempting to instill a sense of confidence and success in each of my students.

This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before.
